Remothered: Tormented Fathers – Release Date, Plot & Other Facts

The survival horror games genre is not the most popular out there. Of course, games like Resident Evil which is known to be the first game that originally coined out the term have recorded huge success. Nonetheless, even before the game, we had other horror video games such as the 1989 Sweet Home video game which is the origin of Resident Evil and then Alone in the Dark (1992) and Clock Tower in 1995. What is now believed to be the real survival horror game is Remothered: Tormented Fathers.

The genre is not very popular as most of the few games under it, including Clock Tower did not become so popular, until Resident Evil which came to define the genre. Nonetheless, Remothered happens to further open the horror game genre.

Remothered: Tormented Fathers Plot

As already stated, it is a realistic survival horror game that was first released in 2018 by Stormind Games. The game is not very long, but it still gives a fresh breath to those looking for something in the genre.

For anyone who has played Clock Tower, somethings may be very familiar here. The story behind Remothered is on a woman, Rosemary, who is trying to find out about the disappearance of a young girl a few years prior to the game. She gets obsessed with the case and decides to talk to the adopted father of the girl who happens to be rather mysterious and suffers from an unnatural sickness.

More so, the man lives in a house together with his wife and a nurse both of whom are as creepy as the man and everything around them.

Rosemary gets trapped in a mansion and so she has to find a way of staying alive with an AK 47, she also has to find her way around as enemies will keep appearing to her. What this means is that as regards the gameplay, this is mostly a stealth game.

On 11 April 2019, the game was awarded the “Best Italian Game” at the Italian Video Game Awards ceremony (IVGA). During the ceremony, it was revealed that Modus Games had already started work towards developing the second chapter of the game; Remothered: Going Porcelain. Conclusion

Even though Remothered: Tormented Fathers is by no means the biggest horror game out there, neither is it a big-budget game, it is still one of the best horror games we have seen in a while. It is more of a revival of a genre that is mostly quite. The game takes us back to Clock Tower in a great way, improving on almost every aspect of the game. The difficulty is improved upon while the suspense is maintained in a much deeper way.

The strength of the game is in the way it is able to maintain the tension that you want to have in a horror game. With every move you make, you will feel that something isn’t well and you are being stalked by an enemy. On the other hand, the weak side of the game centers around its rather poor dialogue and while it is enjoyable, the game is pretty short.
