Training

picoChip’s multi-core processors and software reference designs provide an unprecedented combination of off-the-shelf functionality and intuitive C-based programmability.

We offer a comprehensive range of training courses designed to help engineers make the most of this flexibility and quickly learn to add value in their designs. In addition to standard “open” introductory courses at our facilities in Bath, UK, Beijing, China and Taipei, Taiwan, we can offer bespoke options, including private sessions conducted at customers’ own premises.

Our courses are modular, enabling us to configure training for any requirement. Modules range from introductory sessions for customers undertaking systems integration of our ready-to-use software reference designs, to in-depth programming and verification training aimed at engineers developing complex multi-core DSP applications from the ground up.

The four “Fundamentals” modules build into a coherent training plan providing the essential knowledge required by engineers and scientists intending to implement projects using the picoArray or picoChip software reference designs

Who should attend?

Hardware and software designers evaluating or using picoChip multi-core DSPs and software reference designs in their products; educationalists and academics studying and researching multi-processor signal processing, software defined radio and cognitive radio techniques.

What will I learn?

  • picoTools module
Writing and verifying applications using the picoArray and picoTools flow
  • picoPlatforms module
    Platform-level hardware development
    BSPs
    System-level integration and debug
  • WiMAX module
Overview of the 802.16e PHY and MAC architectures
    API for integration and control
    Hands-on debugging
  • WCDMA module
    PHY architecture
    Interfaces, integration and API
    Collapsed stack architecture

What are the costs?

Prices range from $700 per person for a one-day course. Discounts are available for non-commercial organisations (including universities and colleges) and those booking several places on the same open course. Please email us at training@picochip.com for further details.

Course schedule

The full five-day “Fundamentals” course includes the picoTools and picoPlatforms modules, and a choice of training in the use of our WiMAX or WCDMA software reference designs. In addition, it is possible to “pick-and-mix” between the modules to create a custom training course.

Our current provisional schedule of open courses is as follows:
