picoChip scoops up three awards at Elektra European Electronics Industry Awards 2007
Landslide achievement as the only company to take home three awards; Company of the Year, Fabless Semiconductor Company of the Year and Design Application of the Year
Bath, England, 13 December 2007: - picoChip has won the Design Application of the Year, Fabless Semiconductor Company of the Year and Company of the Year Awards at the prestigious Elektra European Electronics Industry Awards 2007. The Elektra Awards were presented at a gala dinner in London's West End last night, with representatives from the electronics industry recognising the achievements of individuals and companies. picoChip is the only company to take home three awards.

Presenting picoChip with the Fabless Semiconductor Supplier of the Year Award, Elektra host Sir Trevor McDonald said, “The winner is a young company which has in just seven years carved out a business for itself in a market dominated by some of the industry's biggest companies. Its success has been based on genuinely innovative semiconductor technology supported by a clear business plan.”
There were joint winners of the Company of the Year Award with component distributor Anglia Components joining wireless semiconductor supplier picoChip Designs on the winner's rostrum. “Company of the Year was chosen from the winners of each of the individual categories. Technology innovation and business success is taken into account and the judges identified who demonstrated outstanding achievements. The companies in the shortlist for this award represent an electronics industry which is competing well in global markets,” stated the Elektra Awards organisers.
picoChip won the Design Application of the Year Award for the company’s femtocell reference design. “The overall winner in this category has taken a clear lead in the introduction of 3G mobile phone technology which will enable operators around the world to offer improved low cost indoor coverage and capacity,” commented the Elektra judging panel on picoChip winning the award.
