The picoXcell™ PC323 is the industry’s most advanced system-on-chip (SoC) femtocell solution. It incorporates Picochip’s field-proven HSPA+ modem implementation in a highly integrated SoC and allows manufacturers to build a fully-featured 3GPP Release 8 femtocell.
Transmit MIMO capabilities allow systems integrators to achieve the highest 3GPP data rates (42Mbit/s HSDPA, 11.5Mbit/s HSUPA). The chip can also be used in systems with receive diversity, a technology that is essential for femtocells that accommodate higher numbers of simultaneous users.
In addition to feature-rich enterprise products, the PC323 serves extended range “greater femto” applications for metropolitan and rural environments. Cell radius is up to 2km and UE speed up to 30km/h.
The PC323 is Picochip’s third-generation solution for femtocells. It builds on the company’s extensive experience gained as the number one silicon supplier in the first wave of commercial 3G femtocell roll-outs. It is pin- and code-compatible with Picochip’s four-user, eight-user and 16-user picoXcell devices.
The PC323 includes a glueless interface to common radios, and integrates security and network interface functions that are compliant to 3GPP Release 8, including strong encryption and the Iuh interface.
The SoC thus offers OEMs a high level of confidence that they can quickly complete designs that will both conform to regulatory requirements, and deliver outstanding performance in the field.
