Keep informed about Picochip
Picochip’s products are field-proven in realizing the technologies at the heart of LTE. We have experience of using these technologies in real operator deployments; and just as importantly, we are industry leaders in small cells, which will be vital to LTE networks.
We showed one of the industry's first demonstrations of LTE in action early in 2008. And later that same year we announced the industry's first basestation reference designs. Our carrier-class LTE solution has proven IOT with commercial UE and core networks, and has a clear roadmap to LTE-A.
More recently, through a collaboration with Continuous Computing, we revealed details of the PC9608, the industry's first integrated development system for LTE femtocells. Based on a µTCA form factor, the PC9608 allows developers to start work on their LTE systems now, using production Picochip silicon, with a migration route to the picoXcell range of SoCs.
Picochip has championed the early use of small cells in 4G deployments, arguing that they represent a cost-effective method of targeting new network capacity at subscribers who really need it. In many cases, we believe that the use of a femtocell will be the only way operators can benefit from a move to LTE, because of its higher operating frequency and more complex modulation scheme.
