Leadership through technology at Mobile World Congress, Barcelona picoChip demonstrated key technologies that were the buzz at this year’s Mobile World Congress: picoChip unveiled its common platform for WiMAX and LTE developed in conjunction with mimoOn. This is a very significant milestone as the industry’s only such dual-mode reference design. picoChip outlined its partnership with Continuous Computing to deliver an optimized / integrated protocol stacks and combined HSPA femtocell + DSL gateway reference design for complete end-to-end femtocell design. although not on the the picoChip stand, GWT was showing their cdma2000/EvDO femto, based on picoChip¹s PC202 multi-core processor device.

New TD-SCDMA femtocell reference design enables picoChip to support all three 3G standards families picoChip has introduced the PC8808 TD-SCDMA femtocell reference design, the first to support this standard. Femtocells (or 3G access points) are low-cost basestations optimized for deployment inside buildings to improve coverage and data rates. The new design was developed in China at picoChip’s Beijing design center. TD-SCDMA is the third major 3G standard and is expected to launch in the Olympic cities this summer. Find out more
