Femtocells World Summit 2010
22 Jun 2010 - 24 Jun 2010, The Landmark London Hotel, London
Picochip was a Diamond sponsor at the Femtocells World Summit 2010, held in London 22-24 June.
The event more than delivered on its promise to be the largest femtocell-focused event in 2010 and brought together global operators and vendors to highlight the latest deployment news within the wireless industry.
'Someday, all basestations will be made like this'
Nigel Toon, Picochip CEO, presented on the role that small cells are starting to play in this evolving world of wireless technology. In a presentation entitled "Someday, all basestations will be made like this", Nigel explained why all cellular networks, including those based on LTE and future standards, are likely to make increasing use of femtocell technology.
These developments are seeing the femtocell concept spreading rapidly into a wide variety of applications, with a range of user count, cell size and performance.

This session included information on the Forum's plans for a second plugfest interoperability testing event, to take place before the end of 2010. The event will focus on the Broadband Forum's femtocell management standard, and will be overseen by testing and compliance consultancy TRaC Telecoms & Radio. It is an important next stage of an ongoing programme aimed at ensuring the femtocell industry is built on fully open and effective standards.
